REIKI HEALING

Reiki/Energy Healing for Companion or Performance Animals

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing system that originally emphasized spiritual development and is based on the idea that all living beings have a life energy flowing through them. “Rei” is spirit and “Ki” is energy or also known as “Chi”. The energy travels through us to the beings that need healing. The energy most commonly comes from our hands but can flow through all of our energy pathways. Reiki supports balance and harmony on all levels and can either be done through your hands or at a distance.

When life energy is high, your pets are healthy, balanced, more relaxed and less likely to get sick. When low or blocked, they will be more affected by stress and less resistant to illness.

“By Simply relaxing, being quiet, breathing and having a heart felt intention to help another being, you create a sacred space. In the space, all things are possible.” - Kathleen Prasad

Systems of Reiki
Level 1 Shoden -“beginner teaching”
Level 2 Okuden -“hidden or inner teachings”
Level 3 ShinPiden -“mystery teaching”

The five elements of the system if Reiki:
  1. Developing Spiritual and Mental Focus
The most important component of Reiki at any level is one’s own daily personal practice, meditation and self healing. This is your foundation for all healing experiences with animals. Learn to relax and just be in the present moment. The main precepts for balanced living are Do Not Anger, Do Not Worry, Be Humble, Be Honest In Your Work and Be Compassionate to Yourself and Others.

“The Five Precepts help us remain mindful and to stay balanced in our every day life. When we practice regularly, it becomes easier to stay balanced when we are working with our animals. A more balanced energy is also more attractive to animals, so you may notice that the more you work with the precepts, the easier it is to connect with animals. Not only your own animals, but also others with whom you may come in contact with.” - Kathleen Prasad

  2. Techniques and Meditation
There are 3 Energetic Centres is known as the three diamonds. The Hara is located around the stomach and corresponds to the earth. Energy is stored at this point in the body, which then extends to the rest of the body. The Heaven energy is located in your head and is connected with your spirit. The third diamond is the Heart energy located in the middle of your chest and is connected with your emotions.

We want to connect all the diamonds by focusing on our breath and intention to connect all of them.

Grounding/ Releasing Negative Energies and Purifying

It is very important to release any negative energy that you may have within yourself and to purify your body, mind and spirit, as well as the space that you’re working in.

You can use certain healing crystals, affirmations, mantras and incense/oils such as Sage to help clear and ground yourself and the space you are in.

You can use this simple mantra to help release any negative energies in and around you and the animal.

I command my/our/name of animal’s Co-Creator to remove all negative energies within, and around me/us/(name of animal) that do not serve my/our/(name of animal) highest good. Cleanse them in a white loving light and send them where they are needed next with my love. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You can recite affirmations that are needed for yourself or your pet. The book Heal Your Body by Louise L. Hay states body ailments and affirmations to recite to help heal illness.

In Reiki, a technique used before and after a healing session is called Kenyoku Ho. This is a practice to purify the body, heart and spirit. This technique is generally used before and after the practice of any energy work. It begins by clearing any tension in the shoulders, heart, stomach and liver with stroke number one. Stroke number to clears any tension in the shoulder, heart stomach and spleen. Strokes along the arms specifically clear the arm and hand meridians.
  1. Gassho - Center the mind and set intention by placing your two palms together in a praying position. Gassho brings all opposites together. It creates unity within the body by bringing the left and right hand side together. All opposites become one. Focus your attention to the higher middle fingers.

  2. Place your right hand on the left shoulder (where collar bone and shoulder meet). Breathe in and on the out breath, sweep down diagonally down from the left shoulder to the right hip. Repeat on your right shoulder.

  3. With the left elbow against your side and with your arm horizontally to the ground, place your right hand on the left forearm. Breathe in and on the out breath, sweep down word along the arm to the fingertips. Repeat starting with your right elbow.

  4. Gassho - to give thanks.

Breathing Exercise to Calm the Mind

Start by breathing slowly and naturally, not forcing the breath, breathing in through the nose. Let your lungs fill naturally in relaxation and the Hara in the lower abdomen will also respond. Try to breathe deeply into your diagram, not just in your chest and lungs. Exhale the breath, breathing out until the need to breathe in takes over again. Your chest and shoulders remain relaxed throughout. While following the breath, breathe in while counting from 1 to 10 and then begin again from the count of one while you exhale. While breathing, focus on relaxing the mind.

All thoughts that enter float past like clouds in the sky. Say thank you for these thoughts but allow them to float away out of the sacred space you are creating. Relax all of your body and let go of all resistance. Try to remain focused on your breath. Be aware of the movement of energy in around the body.  You may feel lighter, relaxed and feel like you are surrounded in white light. Once you are relaxed you can connect with the animal you are going to heal by first asking for permission to heal and connect with them and then asking for that connection. You may want to repeat three times “I am one with the soul of .......“.

Healing with Your Animal

Breathe, focus on the present and set your intention that you are open to facilitate whatever healing your animal is open to receive. Invite your animal into this Reiki space and let go of judgment, expectations and trust the Reiki to go where it needs to go. You can send healing energy from anywhere in your body. You may also use your hands directly on or slightly above the area needing to be healed. Send your intention to heal with love. Once done thank the animals. Do not force the treatment if the animal moves away and tries to leave. Respect their wishes, the energy maybe too much for them or you may need to ground and release negative energy from your self first. You may have to start from a distance.

Your intuition may kick in the world giving a reeky session. You may get physical insight such as aches, pains, cold or heat. Stay there and continue sending healing energy until the symptoms subside. You may receive a motional inside through visions, thoughts or feelings.

3) Four Mantras and Four Symbols
In Reiki levels two and three you learn the four Mantras  and four symbols. The use of the Symbols and Mantras is often credited with enhancing the effectiveness of Reiki by offering greater protection, power and healing karma.

4) Reiju and Attunements
Reiju or Attunement means a spiritual blessing.  And achievement is a ritual that is performed by a Ricci teacher on a student. During an actual meant, the teacher complete a physical ritual around to see that student. As the student receives the attunement their eyes are closed and they are concentrating on their breathing in a meditative state. It allows the energy generated from the teacher to support the student’s personal practice. It is with in this energetic space that the student can access whatever he or she needs. It is then up to the student to except or not except what is offered.
